Since the cubs are heading to U.S. Cellular this week, here’s a look back at the 1906 World Series…

The team batting average for the “Hitless Wonders” (.230) was the worst in the American League in 1906. Their average was .198 in the World Series which was better than the cubs .196 average.

George Rohe (left) was the unlikely hero for the White Sox. Rohe has a career Avg of .227 but managed a .333 Avg in the World Series including a bases loaded two-out triple to win Game Three 3-0.

Ed Walsh (right) was the star pitcher for the White Sox. He was 2-0 with a 0.60 ERA. In Game Three, Walsh gave up 2 hits in the 1st inning and then held the cubs hitless the rest of the way.
